Title of Presentation:
Short zygoma implants-a game changer

Abstract Summary:
Short zygomatic implants, as a technical modification to conventional zygoma implant surgery, have the potential to rehabilitate edentulous maxilla without the need for distal cantilevers. This presentation will deal with the technical advantages of this modified procedure.

Background and Objectives:
Zygoma implants are today well accepted as a predictable, graftless maxillary dento-alveolar rehabilitative option. However, the main disadvantage of this is the posterior cantilever with increased loads on the zygoma implants. To offset this, pterygoid implants have been advocated. Pterygoid implants are technique-sensitive and are done as a blind procedure with their attendant risks. Short zygoma implants, placed in the second molar region can reduce or eliminate the posterior cantilever of the prosthesis and the need for pterygoid implants.

Key Takeaway Points:
1. Concept of short zygoma implant.
2. Short zygoma implant technique.
3. Advantages of short zygoma implants.
